Social Media & Community Manager Lead

We Are

A small team serious about helping people achieve and fund their visions while pursuing our goals and doing the work needed to succeed, but also millennials of color, who understand the importance of diversity, humor and fun!

 

Duties

The SMCM Lead will work remotely and meet for in-person meetings once a month in Brooklyn or Manhattan with the VP Team, including cofounders Aishah and Lisa.  Weekly content meetings via conference call, Google hangouts or Skype will be held mid-week.

 

 

The SMCM Lead will help construct a social media marketing plan for the next 3-6 months to increase engagement, likes, and followers on all platforms.  By the end of volunteer period,  they will have created and executed a successful 360° Social Media Marketing Plan for an inclusive, for-purpose, NYC startup.

 

Overall, the SMCM Lead should be familiar with Hootsuite, Buffer, Co-schedule, or other similar social media scheduling platforms. You will create relevant daily content to share on VisionPledge’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.  

 

Have an awareness/familiarity with our Voice/tone and current content on our platforms geared towards Millennials of Color, ages 18-34. Also have an awareness of millennial-based organizations, outlets, and influencers like Blavity, 20/20 Shift, Buzzfeed, etc.  SMCM lead will also have a familiarity with Instagram or other Social Media posting apps such as Gleem.

 

You are comfortable organizing and taking the lead on coordinating twitter chats and/or Facebook live interviews. SMCM Lead should have some basic familiarity with other tools like Canva to create on-the-fly graphics based off already-made templates. SMCM Lead  should also be comfortable acting as a community-manager, co-creating and building the VisionPledge community and engaging with our online communities by replying, liking, sharing posts, rummaging through hashtags etc. We’re super open to your brilliant ideas. Not required, but the SMCM lead will also be able to contribute general blog posts and conduct Millennial Visionary Q&As for future VisionPledge blogs.


Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage Visionpledge’s social media profiles and presence, including Facebook, Twitter,  Instagram, LinkedIn,and potentially additional channel

  • Cultivate the VisionPledge online community via social media and other channels

  • Create shareable and unique content appropriate for specific networks to both promote the brand and content

  • Listen and engage in relevant social discussions about VP organization, and industry, both from existing customers and lead’s point of view

  • Run regular social promotions and campaigns and track their success, ranging from Twitter chats, to Google+ Hangouts, to LinkedIn conversations

  • Work alongside the team to help distribute content that educates and entertains our audience

  • Drive consistent, relevant traffic and media leads from our social network presence

  • Explore new ways to engage and new social networks to reach our target donors and users

 

Requirements:

  • Active and well-rounded personal presence on social media, with a command of each network and their best practices

  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions

  • Bonus experience and skills include:  Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, inbound marketing, and blogging

  • Able to attend meetings remotely once a week and in person, on average, once a month

  • 10 hours per week commitment

 

Graphic Design Lead

Duties

This position is largely based on our social media content and upcoming events. The Graphic Design lead will have an awareness/familiarity with VisionPledge voice/tone and current content on our platforms geared towards Millennials of Color, ages 19-35. The Graphic design lead will create designs for social media posts, memes and flyers for events overall. You’re comfortable creating and building a template to disseminate flyers, social media video clips, for any workshops or events, Millennial Visionary posts with quotes, etc. You are also comfortable designing with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or other design platforms to create these images, short video clips and memes. We’re also  extremely open to your brilliant ideas.

Goals of Both  Volunteer Lead Positions at VisionPledge

Our goal is largely is for all Volunteer Leads to receive more start-up-world experience by utilizing your expert skills and putting them into practice with our organization. VP Leads will get a good grasp of working with a grassroots startup as you continue to build on your expertise in your field. By the end of the volunteer period, if you haven’t joined VisionPledge as a full-time team member, you will at the very least, have notable and measurable achievements to place on your resume and include in your portfolio!
